Hi, I’m Sofia Ziessler-Korppi, a Finnish-German artist, photographer and a freelance writer based in Myrskylä, Finland.

Before fully delving into arts, I took university degrees in anthropology, development studies and engineering and had a variety of different jobs such as in the humanitarian sector and with a missionary organisation, living and travelling in many countries around the world.

However, becoming a mother (of three, by now) as well as experiencing two evacuations from Ethiopia leading us to end up living in the Finnish countryside, made me stop and turn around to embrace the creative life I’m living out now with an unprecedented passion. I've done photography since my teenage years, painted since I was small and enjoyed writing since I learned the letters, so you can imagine how grateful I am to be able finally do these three things for living.

In terms of painting, I usually work rather intuitively, prayer being the undertone, exploring the creative process through vivid colours, multiple layers and the use of texture. Sometimes though I can also get a very clear image of a painting I need to make. This was the case when I started painting waves, for instance.

In photography, I seek for an artistic touch and often use a somewhat documentary-like style. I love the moment of taking portraits and the unique encounters with customers.

I write anything from poems to journalism, mostly in Finnish, which is my mother tongue and the language of my heart.

My navigation and inspiration draw from my walk with Jesus Christ and the exciting reality of faith expressed in the Bible.
